Overview

Courses focus on a variety of topics according to individual interests of both the supervisor and the PhD student. The courses are scheduled individually by the supervisor based on all the subjects offered at Gdansk University of Technology by all the faculties within third cycle or second cycle of studies. They also contain some optional offers, developing general skills necessary in scientific and didactic activity (e.g. methodology of scientific research and didactic, data bases, patent protection, fundamentals of philosophy, economics, psychology and sociology. Since the subjects of PhD projects are variable, there is no compulsory programme. It is the responsibility of the supervisor to select the appropriate courses.

Career opportunities

The graduates have the knowledge and skills in the field of Ocean Engineering or Naval Architecture, or Marine Engineering.

The graduates are qualified to work as PhD scientists in academia and ocean engineering industry including shipbuilding. They are prepared to work as independent scientists but they can also be employed in small and big companies (e.g. shipyards or R&D units).
